Meet our Franchisees in Denver

August 27, 2019

Ed and Michele Balcerzak are excited for a fresh start at The Cleaning Authority of Denver East location.

Michele has done everything from owning a daycare, being a teacher, working at Barnes and Noble, and now, currently owns a coffee shop in Massachusetts. Ed, who has an MBA from University of Rochester and M.S. from SUNY Brockport, worked in corporate America for 34 years – predominately for AT&T, Direct TV, and Kodak – and held a multitude of finance and operational positions.

After their impressive careers, they wondered, “What’s next?”

“We talked about franchises and a friend of ours got into franchising also after leaving AT&T,” Ed said. “So he educated us on the fact that there are franchise brokers, we didn’t even know they existed. So he put us in touch with somebody and that’s what started that process. The franchise broker got us educated on franchising in general, and he presented us with four different options, one of which was The Cleaning Authority.”

The couple never thought they’d own a cleaning company, but they ultimately did choose The Cleaning Authority. “It’s an industry that’s not going to be affected by all the shift to digital. This has the right risk profile for us,” Ed said.

They found that Denver was a great place to keeping growing a business. “The Denver market is a great market. You have a lot of two income families, and from that standpoint there’s so much potential,” Michele said. “We’ve been there for 15 years, and it’s a great place to do business.”

The Balcerzaks are excited to bring great service to the Denver area.

"In my previous life when I was consulting I didn't have near the flexibility of my schedule that I have now. Now after growing the cleaning authority at the point where it is, I coach soccer. We do two practices a week for my girls team. I do one practice a week for my boys team. I can go to any school event that I want to. I can take time to go with teachers. I exercise most every day. I work hard but I can come and go on my own schedule. I no longer have to worry about paying for my children's education and we live a comfortable life and it's fun."

"As a female franchise owner, I've learned that success knows no gender. It's about determination, resilience, and the willingness to learn and adapt."
