Meet our Franchisee: Reed DeSalvo

June 20, 2018

Prior to joining The Cleaning Authority in Baton Rouge, Reed spent five years working as a sports journalist. While he enjoyed his time in this career, the hours were long, and he ultimately realized that he wanted more. After deciding to pursue a franchise, Reed discussed his interests and qualifications with a franchise recruiter. Reed looked at several options, but he knew that The Cleaning Authority was different right off the bat. “Everything stood out about The Cleaning Authority,” he said.

In the end, Reed decided on The Cleaning Authority because of the strong corporate support.

“It means a lot to have somebody that has their own franchise come out and visit your franchise every few months while you’re starting out to make sure you’re doing things right,” Reed said.

Reed was also impressed by The Cleaning Authority’s unique Detail-Clean Rotation System. He thinks that this is one of the major pulls bringing people into new franchises in the company.

“There are a lot of smart people that have gravitated towards this franchise, and they’re doing it for a reason,” he said.

After speaking with the owners of the nearby New Orleans location, he was also drawn to the financial potential of the franchise. Hearing about their success made him confident that Baton Rouge will be the perfect market for The Cleaning Authority.

“Baton Rouge just has so many people, and it’s a little small area,” Reed said. “I feel like there are a lot of people who fit our demographic.”

Reed also hopes to make his franchise a family business, as family is very important to him. While his father currently works as an attorney, he also acts as his financial backer and partner. Although he is not involved in day-to-day operations right now, his father plans to become more involved with the business in several years when he retires. Forward looking, Reed says that he hopes to be able to pass the business on to his children one day; “This is something that can maybe stay in my family for a long time,” he said.

"In my previous life when I was consulting I didn't have near the flexibility of my schedule that I have now. Now after growing the cleaning authority at the point where it is, I coach soccer. We do two practices a week for my girls team. I do one practice a week for my boys team. I can go to any school event that I want to. I can take time to go with teachers. I exercise most every day. I work hard but I can come and go on my own schedule. I no longer have to worry about paying for my children's education and we live a comfortable life and it's fun."

"As a female franchise owner, I've learned that success knows no gender. It's about determination, resilience, and the willingness to learn and adapt."
