Meet Our Franchisee: Matt Renfro

August 18, 2016

Matt Renfro is trading over a decade of experience in the financial services industry for a new venture into small business ownership. The Ohio native worked for several banks in the Cleveland/Akron, OH area, and after recently receiving his MBA, he decided to look for a way to have more control of his career.

“For the past two years I have been exploring different business options. I worked with a franchise broker and looked at about 25 different options in various industries before landing on The Cleaning Authority. I wanted to find a business that would let me control my own destiny and also give people in my community a better quality of life,” Matt said.

Matt chose The Cleaning Authority because he liked the idea of having a business where he gives back time to his clients. He also felt that the brand’s leadership was impressive.

Outside of his new business, Matt works to spread expertise about entrepreneurship to students at Lake Erie College through the Learning about Business Program. “This is a great way for me to take what I am learning about business ownership and give back to younger professionals who are looking for direction and guidance in their future careers.” Matt also serves on The Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Lake County.

Matt is very close to his family, comprised of his wife and two sons, and they have a very large extended family on his wife’s side from Croatia. “At the end of the day, all of our work is for them,” he said.

"In my previous life when I was consulting I didn't have near the flexibility of my schedule that I have now. Now after growing the cleaning authority at the point where it is, I coach soccer. We do two practices a week for my girls team. I do one practice a week for my boys team. I can go to any school event that I want to. I can take time to go with teachers. I exercise most every day. I work hard but I can come and go on my own schedule. I no longer have to worry about paying for my children's education and we live a comfortable life and it's fun."

"As a female franchise owner, I've learned that success knows no gender. It's about determination, resilience, and the willingness to learn and adapt."
