Meet our Franchisee: Tom & Erin Roth

April 3, 2019

After spending 28 years in the accounting industry, Tom Roth was ready for something new.

After graduating from DePaul University with a B.S. in Accounting, Tom went into public accounting, got his CPA, and then went into public accounting for about eight years. “After that, I moved into the private sector, and I’ve worked as a company Controller for multiple businesses,” Tom said. “

Tom believes this background will benefit him greatly in taking on business ownership. “It’s given me great background in different areas of a business,” he said. “I was able to see many facets of the company, and it helped me appreciate the importance of each area.”

Tom, who moved to Atlanta three years ago with his wife, decided it was time to try something new. “My wife and I started looking at different franchises and doing research on what fit the profile of what we were looking for in a business,” he said. “Through our research, we found that the residential cleaning industry checked a lot of the boxes in terms of what we were looking for.”

Tom and Erin worked with a franchise broker who notified them that The Cleaning Authority had a franchise in Marietta, Georgia that was up for resale. “As we live about 25 minutes away from that office, the location was perfect. We wanted to be part of the local business community and be close to our customers,” Tom said.

The couple was impressed with corporate support The Cleaning Authority offers. “We’ve never owned a business before, so knowing that corporate support was easily accessible was very important and certainly factored into our decision to move forward with The Cleaning Authority,” Tom said.

They were also happy with the aggressive approach to marketing. “The direct mailers will help us reach potential customers,” Tom said. “We’ve spoken to multiple franchisees who said that getting appointments and estimates is not a problem as long as we make ourselves available to meet with potential customers and put our best foot forward when we do meet with customers who are interested in working with The Cleaning Authority.”

Tom and Erin are excited to continue to grow The Cleaning Authority in the Marietta community.

"In my previous life when I was consulting I didn't have near the flexibility of my schedule that I have now. Now after growing the cleaning authority at the point where it is, I coach soccer. We do two practices a week for my girls team. I do one practice a week for my boys team. I can go to any school event that I want to. I can take time to go with teachers. I exercise most every day. I work hard but I can come and go on my own schedule. I no longer have to worry about paying for my children's education and we live a comfortable life and it's fun."

"As a female franchise owner, I've learned that success knows no gender. It's about determination, resilience, and the willingness to learn and adapt."
